What was the best book you read in January?
I read some great books in January, and a lot of different genres:Adult contemp, YA mystery, YA historical, YA dystopian, YA, YA, YA... I think my favorite book this month was Hourglass. Out of all the books, that story had me captivated the most and the characters were the awesomest- I wanted to be Emerson and I wanted to date Michael. The book didn't go as I thought it would, but that only made it more interesting, less predictable. I'm excited to see where the sequel will go.
If you like historical, or you want to try something different, I highly recommend Forge by Laurie Halse Anderson, although it's a sequel so start with Chains. Anderson is one of my favorite writers and I'd read anything she writes!
I finished Crossed last night and really enjoyed it. The ending was a little disappointing but that's because it just sort of... ended- at a nowhere point. I know there's another book still coming out but still. I think Ally Condie is a great writer, very lyrical, and even though Dystopian isn't my cup-o-tea, there's something about her books that keeps me involved.
And I just have to give a nod to Uncommon Criminals (love Ally Carter- love, love, love her) and The Liar Society. Both fun books!
What a great conglomeration of reads! I think I'll have to check out some of the ones you've listed here that I don't already have/haven't already read. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh man, you read a lot, and a great variety! I haven't read any Ally Carter books yet, who am I?? And you read Hourglass at just the right time---not too much longer before the sequel is out!
ReplyDeleteI have heard great things about Hourglass but I haven't read it yet. I really need to get with it so I'll know what I have been missing ;)
ReplyDeleteHaven't read any of these, but I did see the ONE DAY movie and it wrecked me. (I know, I'm a slacker for not reading the book first, and now I simply can't go back and read it since I know it will break me in half again...)
ReplyDeleteAnyway! HOURGLASS keeps getting good reviews, guess it'll have to go on my TBR list :)
