What's Up Wednesday: SNOW!!!

What I'm Reading
I finished The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell. It was sooo good! The first chapter threw me off a little- it read a lot like an epilogue- but once I got past that, the story swept me up and took me away. Such a great surprise. Then one night I read Just One Night by Gayle Forman, a great little wrap-up to Just One Day and Just One Year. Now I'm reading A Tale of Two Centuries by Rachel Harris.

What I'm Writing Revising
Last week wasn't the best for revisions, but I'm back in the swing of things this week with JAR OF HEARTS. (Which is almost exactly what I said last week, but this time, I SWEAR, I'M REVISING.) I'm hoping to get my revisions done before November so that I can do NaNoWriMo again. Also, I have a bigger self-imposed deadline hanging over my head that I talked about here.

What Inspires Me Right Now
Well, I can tell you what DOESN'T inspire me. THIS:

Stupid Alberta Weather

What Else I've Been Up To
Trying to get back into the swing of things with school starting and all of the kids after school activities. I also spent three hours yesterday rearranging my kids closets thanks to the unexpected snowfall. That was not fun, and it cut into my revising time. NOT. COOL.

What have you been up to? And don't tell me you've been enjoying hot and sunny weather or I may just send you some evil vibes.

  1. goodness...the snows held on late, and are starting so early. Thank you for global warming. Where would we be without it?

  2. Oh, wow. You guys got hit worse where you are than we did. Yikes! I can't believe it's still technically summer and we're getting winter weather. So completely ridiculous and crazy-making. I just put THE VESPERTINE on hold at the library. I'm really into that particular genre lately, so it's right up my alley. It's actually been on my TBR list for ages. Good luck getting back into revisions this week! I'm trying to jump back in myself. Thankfully, crap weather always tends to inspire to read and write more. Have a great week, Melanie! (You know, despite our crap weather.)

  6. Gahh snow. It's been cold and rainy all day here and I'm afraid we're going to be next. It doesn't have to be much colder. I'm okay with snow but, like, after Halloween.

    Good luck with revisions!

  7. Wait, is that SNOW? Oh no!

Best of luck with revisions! I want to do NaNo as well, so I'm trying to finish up by November, too!

  8. Oh my gosh... That snow. I would DIE. It's beautiful, but in, like, December. And only if you don't have to go outside. :-) Good luck on your revision, Melanie! I hope the snow passes and you get to experience a beautiful autumn!

  9. I am SO glad we haven't gotten dumped on in Saskatchewan yet, but I'm sure it won't be long. Blah. I was hoping for a nice, long fall this year. Not sure that's going to happen. I hope all of that melts yet so you don't have another endless winter. Is it just me or do they seem to be getting longer?

Just looked up A TALE OF TWO CENTURIES and it looks like a fun read! I'd never heard of it before, but assuming you have good things to say about it, I might have to check it out.

Rooting for you to get those revisions done by November! Keep at it! :)

  10. Blah to snow in September! Any flakes before Halloween just seem wrong.

Hope next week brings better weather for you!

  11. Gah! It's still September, right? Sorry your summer got cut short. Maybe a small heatwave will come by before winter really settles in? Hope you get some more revisions in this week!
