I've got a lot to figure out for my revisions. I wish I had some sort of organizational thing going on with this but I've yet to come up with a system for big revisions. Right now I've got to make backstory notes on some of my secondary characters so I can flesh them out some more, and write down notes on different ideas. Then I'm thinking index cards for each chapter. Hopefully that will help me figure out what ideas to add and where.
Ack. I hate being unorganized. Also, I'm already thinking I shouldn't have made this goal because it's going to be a busy month what with the Olympics and visiting my parents for a week. But I'll do the best that I can and we'll see what happens...
How is your recharge going?
If this challenge helps you through a busy month, and you actually manage to get organized, or write something despite all that's going on, I'd say that's a win. Stick with it, Melanie! A week spent working on index cards, or backstory notes is progress. All the best to you!! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Colin: progress is progress, especially during a busy month! Best of luck :-)
ReplyDeleteCan I just parrot Colin and Elodie? :) When I feel a little overwhelmed by all that I feel like I have to do, I suck in a deep breath (after I've hyperventilated over the situation, of course) and remind myself that anything I get done - even if it's ten minutes - is still more than I did the day before. It mostly works. :) Good luck this week! Also, I see you're reading Save The Cat! One of my FAVORITES! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the above :) Great advice.
ReplyDeleteI too stubble with lack of organization when it comes to big revisions. I'm hoping that I will come up with something soon. I feel like I'm stabbing in the dark and I hate that feeling.
I'm also totally unorganized. Sometimes it works, most of the time it ends up kicking me in the butt. Hope you have get everything figured out with your manuscript!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with writer re-charge. I recharged about half an hour ago after a 5 months hiatus ... baby steps! Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. One word at a time:)
