Book Buying

This week's Road Trip Wednesday is a straight forward and easy question:

Where do you buy most of your books? No one is judging!

First I look at Walmart. Their books are 30% off, but you can only get them when they first come out and there are only few to choose from. Superstore is the same way- 25% off, but little choice.
Ditto to Costco. They have great prices but you have to get the books right when they're there because it doesn't take long for them to disappear. When those places fail, or when I'm trying to buy a book that's older or less popular, I buy from Chapters/Indigo. I'm Canadian and that's our main Canadian bookseller.

Speaking of books, I got hardly any chick lit recommendations yesterday. Anyone else have any to recommend for me?

  1. Do you ever shop at Amazon? If so, how has the Canadian postal service worked for you? A couple of Canadians have had some harsh words for your mail delivery people--I'm trying to determine if it's a general feeling. :)

  2. Haha, I don't usually buy online but when I have in the past, I don't remember having any problems with it!
The only time I've really had an issue with our postal service was when they all went on strike and I got my bills late. Yikes.

  3. I go barnesandnoble.com. If you spend more than $25 (which isn't hard) you get free shipping, and their new hardcovers are often 30% off. Plus, seeing as I don't have a car, it's great since it's delivered. But at the same time, the BYU Bookstore is right on campus and sometimes I go there in between classes and succumb to the temptation. Although they do knock off 25% for the top YA books, so that's awesome.

  4. Ha ha! One of the Canadians that Colin was referring to was me (I griped about UPS leaving books in my recycle bin covered in snow). I buy a lot on Chapters.Indigo.ca because they're a good $4-$5 cheaper than in their own store! That's just craziness. I seem to buy my books at a lot of the same places as you (gotta love our options in Canada).

  5. I have a Barnes and Nobles nearby, so I generally go there, but I'll pick up books wherever I see them.
