What's Up Wednesday: Insanity

WHAT I'M READING
Still reading All the Light We Cannot See. Great so far. I also finally downloaded the Kindle app on my iPhone because there were books I could never find via Apple. Even though I'm not one to read two books at once, it's nice not to have to carry a big book around everywhere I go. So right now on that I'm reading In the Rearview by Maria Green.

WHAT I'M WRITING
This past week has been a bit of a bust, but it's been a crazy week and I haven't been feeling well, so I give myself a free pass. I haven't done nothing though. I've written a new draft on my EPONINE query (still needs work), started beta reading a fab YA contemp, and finished reading through what I have on my WIP so far. Goal: to finally get some words written.

WHAT WORKS FOR ME
Brainstorming ideas while cleaning. True story. Nothing like coming up with brilliance while scrubbing the toilet.

WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN UP TO
Like I said, my week has been utter insanity. This has been me:
How was your week?

  2. ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE is very popular in the Central Alberta library system lol. At this point, it will be next year before I'm able to sign it out! Can't wait to hear your final thoughts on it, because it might just end up being a purchase. As for writing, this past week has been a bit of a bust for me as well. That said, it looks as though you got WAY more done than I did. Hopefully this week is much better for both of us! :D

  3. Every post I visit on this blog hop meme has books I have never even heard of, and my reading list continues to grow. There are too many books, and not enough free time!

Cleaning inspiring creativity makes sense to me! I'm the same with laundry. Only laundry, but laundry. It works for all kinds of writing, too. In college and graduate school, if I was stuck on a paper, I started doing my laundry. Something about the productive rhythm of it works well: time to brainstorm & get a little space while folding clothes/switching loads; measured time to sit back down to write while loads are washing. It's good stuff, cleaning.

  4. Yeah, I always find doing the ironing works wonders for inspiration ;)

Hope you're feeling better soon. Have a good week!

  6. Hope this week is less crazy! I always think of ideas when doing non-writing-related things, too.

  7. I've had some weird epiphanies while cleaning too. :) Good luck with the revisions!

  8. I applaud you for working on your query letter despite being sick. Query writing is such a pain in the butt, and to do it when you're not feeling well? Wow! Hope you're feeling better!

  9. I used to wash dishes whenever I got stuck on a story. Worked wonders. Have a great week!

  10. Might as well multitask while doing the housework, right? I often find the best plot ideas/solutions come to me when I'm not actually writing. Maybe that's because your mind has the freedom to wander while doing something menial like scrubbing the toilet. Getting another draft done on your query is important though, so it's not necessarily a bad thing to give it your entire focus. Hope you're feeling much better soon! :)
