An Easy Pick

Today's Road Trip Wednesday hosted by YA Highway asks:

What was the best book you read in September?

This is painfully easy. Here, I'll show the covers of all the books I read in September and see if you can guess which one I'm going to pick.

Did you guess it?

Yep, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. It's almost unfair to the rest of the books- even though they were good, they didn't stand a chance against Code Name Verity.

Why you ask? Well, if you're asking, you obviously haven't read it.

The story is heartbreaking. The voice manages to be funny even through the major awfulness that's going on. You root for everyone, even the bad guy sometimes. It's the kind of book, the type of characters, that stick with you. And it gets major bonus points from me just because of the time period- World War II. If you haven't read it, you need to put it on your TBR right now.

What's the best book you read in September?

  1. That's funny! I totally picked right. I haven't actually read it, but I've heard amazing things. I'll have to add it to my list now :)

  2. This is one of those books that people are scared to read lol Great pick! Although, i love some of the others you've read as well! :-)

  3. I really need to read this one. I've almost bought it a couple of times and then got sidetracked. You've really sold it, though! :)

  4. I need to read it too. I have it on my Kindle and keep pushing it back.

  5. Sounds like a good book, Melanie. After I read ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, I thought that would be my book of the month, without a doubt. It almost seemed unfair to compare the others. And then I read CINDER... :)

  6. Oh! I've heard great things about 'Codename Verity'! I can't wait to read it. The best book I read this month was 'Easy' by Tammara Webber. It's probably the best book I read all year, actually!

  7. I've heard a lot of good buzz about this one--to the point that it has become an intimidating read. So I should just get over that and dive in, eh?
