What's Up Wednesday

What I'm Reading
I read Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout which was the last of the Covenant books. I love her writing and characters, love the humor especially, but I did feel like the ending dragged out a bit. I don't remember much of what happened in Apollyon (book 4) though, so maybe it couldn't have been condensed into one less book. Who knows. Next up- Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi.
What I'm Writing
I finished a minor rewrite on Sway. Next up- revise Eponine for all the wonderful and helpful remarks I got from betas (thanks Alison, Kitty!)
What Inspires Me Right Now
I found this song via a fellow A-Zer (can't remember who) but I really love it.
Even Though I'm A Woman by Seeker Lover Keeper

What Else I've Been Up To
It was Mother's Day on Sunday. I had a phone chat with my mom who was in Ottawa visiting my sister, and then picked her up at the airport yesterday and gave her a gift. My kids all made me something at school and I'm happy to say none of the gifts were plants. (I know, I sound super ungrateful, but I hate getting plants as gifts and it usually happens on Mother's Day for some reason. There are women out there who don't garden, you know.) They also went shopping with the hubs and got me- thanks to a very obvious nudge- a book that I wanted.

What have you been up to?

  1. Good luck with your revisions!

Your Mother's Day gifts look lovely. :) Have a great week!

  2. I picked up a copy of THE ONE recently, too, and I can't wait to read it. The series is not without it's ridiculous moments, but I can't stop reading. :) I loved INTO THE STILL BLUE. What a great way to end a series! I hope you love it. Good luck with your revisions this week!

  3. INTO THE STILL BLUE is a fantastic book! I hope you enjoy it!

Best of luck with your revisions. :)

  4. Best of luck with the revisions ^_^ Hope it's a productive week.

  5. A rewrite and then a revise?! I applaude you!! Good luck on the revise.

You are NOT alone! I am not a plant person!!! My parents gave my son some already planted sun flowers...I'm hoping they don't die!

Hope you have a great week!

  6. I thought INTO THE STILL BLUE was one of the better trilogy endings of late. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I have a bunch of Jennifer L. Armentrout's books on my ereader but haven't gotten around to reading them yet. I really need to do that soon. I always forget the ones on my kobo and go for my actual paper books instead.

Glad you had a nice Mother's Day and got the book you wanted! And I hear you on the plants. I stink at gardening, even though I make an attempt most years. Usually I end up killing whatever I plant lol. Have a great week!

  7. Your Mother's Day gifts are lovely... Lucky you! I thought INTO THE STILL BLUE was pretty fantastic. I love that trilogy, and I was very relieved that the final book held up to the first two for me. Have a great week, Melanie!

  8. Good luck with revisions!

I really need to read the Covenant books. They've been on my mind for years, it's just never been the right time.

  9. I enjoyed INTO THE STILL BLUE! Thought it was a good way to end the series. Hope you like it. Also, glad to hear you got things you wanted (e.g. not plants) for Mother's Day! Good job family!

  10. I loved INTO THE STILL BLUE - hope you enjoy it! Good luck with the revisions. Thanks for letting me sneak peek it! Feel free to shoot me an e-mail any time you want to bounce ideas off someone. :) I am totally with you about the plants - but my girls know not to get me plants. They tell me I have a "black thumb." Have a great week!

  11. My mom likes plants as gifts, but only if she can eventually plant them outside. If it's regular flowers that are going to wilt and die after a few days, she's not very thrilled. I usually just ask her what she wants which takes the surprise out of it, but at least I know she'll be happy :)

  12. LOL to your tiny plant side note. "There are women who don't garden, you know." Bahaha! I'm totally one of those! Although I don't mind them pre-cut in a vase. ;) Sounds like a great week, good luck with your revisions!
